Terms and Conditions of Sale – Semois Kayaks
Welcome to Semois Kayaks! Our mission: to help you enjoy the Semois in the best possible conditions. So that your trip stays a pleasure from start to finish, please take note of the following terms.
1. 🎟 Easy Booking & Payment on Site
You book your activity directly online, quickly and with no prepayment. Full payment is made on the day of the activity, before you set off by kayak. Cash payment is more than encouraged, to speed up departures. What’s more, Poupehan has become a network dead zone (thanks, Proximus!), so we run into a lot of trouble with card transactions ;-(
2. 📞 Flexible & Free Cancellation
A change of plan or something unexpected? No problem. You can cancel free of charge at any time — by phone on the day itself, or by email the day before. We simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible, so we can free up the equipment for other participants.
3. ⏱ Running late: we adapt, but keep us posted!
If you’re running late on the day of your booking, a quick phone call is all it takes. After 20 minutes with no news from you, we may allocate your equipment to other customers to keep things running smoothly.
4. 🌧 Weather & Paddling Conditions: nature decides
The Walloon Region may temporarily ban paddling when the flow of the Semois becomes too low or too high. In that case, you’ll be informed and can postpone or cancel free of charge. Remember to check your emails in good time. Safety comes first, even though we love kayaking. If the level is too low, a plan B on another river in France may apply -> details to follow on www.semois-kayaks.be.
5. 💧 Water Flow: the limits
To ensure pleasant and safe paddling, descents are not permitted:
- below 2.2 m³/sec
- above 50 m³/sec

6. 🛟 Safety and Ability
Each participant confirms that they are in good physical condition and able to swim. Suitable life jackets are provided free of charge. Semois Kayaks cannot be held liable for accidents, injuries, theft, loss or damage related to the activity or to any failure to follow instructions.
7. 📱 Personal Belongings & Protection
Your personal belongings remain your responsibility (smartphones, keys, glasses, etc.). We offer watertight buckets for hire to protect them, but they are not an absolute guarantee against water (the Semois has a sense of humour at times).
8. 🍃 Respect for the Environment & Equipment
We care greatly about preserving the Semois. Please leave no trace of your visit behind — only good memories. Bins are provided at the finish, and equipment must be returned to us in its normal condition of use. Lighting fires or barbecues during the route is prohibited. Playing music during the route is prohibited. Picnics are prohibited except in the appropriate spots, such as the embarkation and disembarkation areas listed by the Walloon Region.
9. 🚫 Responsible Behaviour
Semois Kayaks reserves the right to refuse access to anyone whose behaviour would endanger their own safety, that of others, or the surrounding nature.
10. Please note that for the 20 km route, if you decide to stop at Poupehan — i.e. after 16 km — and not continue on to Frahan, the difference will not be refunded. So don’t overestimate your abilities 😉
