Our region, the Ardennes, is sadly very poorly served by public transport (train and bus). Getting to us by public transport is something of an obstacle course (for example: 2 hours by train + 2 hours by bus to come from Brussels). That’s why we strongly recommend coming by car, or renting a car together to share the costs.
Booking your kayak is always strongly recommended to avoid any unpleasant surprises. It’s not unusual for us to turn away hundreds of people because all our kayaks are already booked. It also helps us organise your welcome more smoothly.
We recommend booking your kayaks 3 to 5 days in advance, especially for groups. That said, it doesn’t mean there won’t be kayaks available if you book the day before — it’s just a precaution to be sure of getting the number of kayaks you want. If anything comes up, you can always cancel your booking by phone on 0032 475 247423 or by email.
The Semois isn’t dangerous — it’s actually quite a calm river. We find the experience easier and more enjoyable from age 3. We have child-sized life jackets on site. If the day’s conditions aren’t suitable for paddling with children, we play it safe and cancel the activity.
Yes, we have a few second-hand kayaks left to sell. They’re still seaworthy, but please note they’re sold without paddles.
Yes, you can picnic during your trip. The Walloon Region has specially set up embarkation and disembarkation areas for this purpose. In Poupehan, for example, you have the Semois Kayaks chip shop 😉
Please always pick up your litter to protect nature and the beauty of the site. We advise against stopping elsewhere to picnic, as you risk a fine from the Walloon Region.
When you book online, you first receive an automatic email summarising your request (please double-check your details) and confirming we’ve received it. We then review your request manually and confirm it by email as quickly as possible (usually within 24 hours).
Payment is always made BEFORE the activity, in cash (preferably) or by Payconiq — but there’s a persistent problem in Poupehan: the network! The village has become a dead zone (thanks, Proximus!) and so transactions are very tricky, sometimes downright impossible for days ;-( … so please make sure you bring cash before you come.
Yes, we’re open every day between 15 March and 30 October. As long as the water level on the Semois allows paddling, you can set off by kayak. If conditions are truly disastrous, we cancel the activity for your safety.
